Having searched Palmerston North and Levin to purchase a car, we decided to stay with our local dealer Ross McColl Cars. We have bought our last four cars from Ross McColl Cars because of the honesty and integrity and after sales service of their vehicles.

The last car we bought was an older model that developed a problem with the battery going flat after 3 days if not used. Ross McColl happily took the car back and reconditioned most of the electrical system till they found the fault which was a faulty radio. They replaced this with a brand new one at no cost to us. We will continue to buy our vehicles through them and we also recommend them to our family and friends.

Myth Buster

Having purchase a car from Ross McColl Cars, I was so amazed at their concern and willingness to rectify a mechanical fault which developed.

You and I often talk of good marketing and customer service AND incidents you can use in your talks to bank customers around the Country. “Ross McColl Cars” of Levin are outstanding and I pass on my thoughts for you. As you know we unhappily had to buy a small car in December. I had met Nathan McColl (son) at a meeting previously. I went to this company for 3 particular reasons – their Levin site is very visible with cars in our price range clearly visible. They are “always” open. Nathan represents his business extremely well OFF SITE. A very encouraging “front” to the company. When I walked onto the car lot I did not know Ross McColl and spoke to a couple of men in the yard thinking one might be him. Smiling, humour, tidy – they could easily have been the owners – another great intro into the business. I met Ross and he treated me like his best customer of the day! Nathan gave us a car to try at home – no strings, make sure we were happy etc.

We bought the car at a price we were happy with – couldn’t believe the value available these days as we have, for 25 years, bought only new Falcons. In completing the paperwork (no fuss) Nathan made sure we were aware of their servicing facilities at another site. At the moment of sale completion I was very pleased in all respects and departed. Two weeks later a phone call from Nathan “Is everything OK”? When service is required we’ll drop you back at work while the job is done”. And now 2 months after our purchase, a travel blanket delivered to home by McColls with a simple note thanking us for buying from them – a little message, quietly at the bottom of the note, mentioning the service facilities. In between times I visited the company to deliver some business group papers. The team were at smoko – more good humour and an invitation to coffee with them. I do not know if this is normal behaviour for a Levin motor firm or indeed any other business here – I suspect not. McColl’s marketing effort is simply outstanding and a real credit to the owners and employees. There are so many good vibes and “clever” subtle ploys you read about in books. And here I am spreading the message for them having already shared with our staff.
